Since February 24, Ukraine has resisted persistent Russian attacks, with the support of the West. Yet, despite the sanctions imposed on Russia and despite the resilience of the Ukrainian people, Russia is once once more demonstrating its military might.

President Zelensky has asked Moscow to negotiate peace “seriously”.

However, Ukraine will have to be ready to make major concessions to push back Russia, thinks Guillaume Lavoie, associate member of the Raoul-Dandurand Chair, in an interview with LCN on Saturday.

Next week, US President Joe Biden is expected to attend the NATO summit in Europe and, subsequently, the summit of Western powers, where we can expect a retort from Westerners once morest the escalation Russian military, according to Mr. Lavoie.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is also expected to attend the NATO meeting scheduled for Thursday. Important announcements might follow during the next week.
