Saudi Arabia snatches a record from Dubai and enters the Guinness Book of Records

The 2022 Saudi Cup for horse racing broke world records as the most expensive horse race in the world, with a financial prize of $20 million, which is part of the total value of the Saudi Cup race, which amounted to $35.1 million as the most expensive horse racing prize in the world.

On Saturday, the CEO of the Horse Racing Club and Secretary-General of the Equestrian Authority in Saudi Arabia, Marwan bin Abdulrahman Al-Olayan, received an award and a certificate from the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive race for horse racing in the world.

The certificate and award were presented by the official arbitrator in the Guinness Book of Records, Ahmed Bucheery, during the handover ceremony on the platform of the King Abdulaziz Racecourse for Horse Racing.

In his speech during the award ceremony to the President of the Horse Racing Club, Bucceri said: “On behalf of the Guinness Book of Records, I am pleased to announce that the 2022 Saudi Cup is the new Guinness World Record holder for the most expensive race in the world.”

He noted that the biggest prize money for the individual race, worth $20 million (£15.22 million), was at the Saudi Cup, which was held at King Abdulaziz Racecourse, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 26, 2022.

Bucheery described the Saudi Run prize as amazing in the world of horse racing, pointing out that the number is now registered in the Guinness Book of Records in the name of the Saudi Cup 2022, following the number was registered in the name of the Dubai World Cup with a prize of 10 million dollars.
