Two men beaten in Le Carré in Liège: two suspects arrested

Two people were attacked during the night from Thursday to Friday in front of a bar in Le Carré in Liège, the Liège prosecutor’s office reported on Saturday. Two of the attackers were arrested.

Around 4:30 am, two men in front of the establishment “Le Spartacus”, a bar frequented by the homosexual community located rue Saint-Jean-en-Isle, were attacked by several individuals. The latter beat the two victims before one of them was forced to give up her car keys to the attackers.

Two suspects, a homeless person and an illegal resident, were finally intercepted driving the vehicle in the territory of the Hesbaye police zone on Friday around 12:30 p.m. They were brought to the Liège public prosecutor’s office on Saturday and their file was placed under investigation with requests for an arrest warrant. One of the victims suffers from an incapacity for work.

The prosecution reported that there was no evidence to support the homophobic nature of the attack at this stage. However, the file is transferred to a section dealing with cases of discrimination.
