The United Nations welcomed an initiative submitted by the Gulf Cooperation Council regarding holding consultations between the parties to the conflict in Yemen in the coming weeks in support of the efforts of the United Nations.
“The United Nations appreciates all initiatives to reach a comprehensive negotiated political settlement to the conflict in Yemen,” Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters.
The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Nayef Al-Hajraf, announced Thursday that the council will host “Yemeni-Yemeni” negotiations in Riyadh this month, indicating that the consultations will discuss 6 axes, including military and political, aiming to open humanitarian corridors and achieve stability.
