[Old News]Doji Isaka passed away | THE SURF NEWS “Surf News”

Doji Isaka, also known as Hiromi Isaka, died at 4:24 am on March 18, and his son, Aki, announced on Facebook. He was 74 years old.

Gastric cancer was discovered in August of last year, and although he was receiving anti-cancer drug treatment, he was switching to palliative care because no effect was expected.

Doji Isaka was the first champion of the All Japan Professional Surfing Championship, served as a director of ASP (currently WSL), and contributed to the development of the Japanese surfing world as one of the key players in the early days of surfing in Japan. Recently, he has been devoting himself to producing coastal use in Japan and promoting surfing, including the sea in his hometown of Shonan.
