A ULB security officer attacked by a student on Monday evening in Ixelles: the suspect arrested

A security officer from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) was beaten up by a student during a party in the Jefke party room, on the Plaine campus in Ixelles, during the night of Monday to Tuesday, according to information from BX1. The suspect was arrested and heard by the police, the Brussels prosecutor’s office said on Friday.

“A young man under the influence of alcohol hit a security guard when she wanted to enforce the rules”, explained the prosecution. “After these beatings, the suspect fled through the crowd, but the security guard and his colleague were able to intercept him a little later. He then struck the same security guards once more. The suspect has been arrested and questioned by the police. An investigation is ongoing.”

According to BX1, the agent intervened to stop a pogo, a dance movement which consists of jumping and jostling, prohibited in the ULB party hall, the Jefke. The officer was then struck by a student. The Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police zone was called to the scene around 2:30 a.m. The agent was injured and was unable to work for several days. His colleague was also slightly injured.
