With the aim of remedying the lag in medical care and hospital saturation derived from the Covid-19 pandemic, the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) will begin the reconversion of its only Family Medicine Clinic (CMF) in the city of Puebla. Initially, it will attend in the evening hours and more health personnel will be hired at the service of the institution.
The above was reported by Pedro Mario Zenteno Santaella, national director of Issste, at a press conference this Friday, March 18. During his visit to daycare center number 67 in the capital of Puebla, the official promised to achieve by the end of May, the extension of hours at the CMF CAPU.
This will allow the unit to provide first-rate services to patients who require specialized treatment and surgical interventions, since he admitted that currently the attention is deficient: “Indeed, there are units [médicas] that they are exceeded”, he assured.
To achieve this, the federal agency will use a maximum budget of 6 million pesos, same that will allow the hiring of 60 new employees, including doctors, nurses and administrative staff.
By extending the hours, the saturation of patients will be reduced, which has been placed as a serious problem, such is the case of the Issste Regional Hospital, especially in the emergency area, he insisted.
About, Arsene Torres, director of that hospital, accepted that hospital care suffered lags during the pandemic SARS-CoV-2, because that place was a Covid hospital in particular. Now, since the indicators of the disease are going down, the Issste de San Manuel will begin to treat other pathologies, and will even offer surgeries on weekends, he indicated.
Finally, Zenteno Santaella stressed that there is much to be done to offer quality medical services, since he admitted that the institutional logic continues to be to treat diseases and not to prevent illnesses.
