DPR Commission X Will Evaluate Gekraf Activities at the Paris Fashion Show

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Deputy Chairman of Commission X from the Golkar faction Hetifah Sjaifudin admitted that his party would evaluate the news that Indonesia appeared at the ‘fake’ Paris Fashion Week some time ago.

His party will check the news that mentions Indonesia’s appearance in the event has taken a lot of the APBN budget allocation.

“We will evaluate it later, because at this time we also need the opportunity to expose it,” Hetifah told reporters at the parliament complex, Thursday (17/3).

He said that the Creative Economy Movement was not part of the government. However, it is possible that there will be use of APBN funds in the event.

He also regretted the news of Indonesia’s miscommunication at an event called Paris Fashion Week even though it wasn’t. Because, the news actually made Indonesia’s name tarnished in the eyes of the world.

However, he believes that Indonesia needs to participate in international activities to introduce domestic products. According to Hetifah, this is currently also the work of her party and the government.

“I’m sure that in the future our products will need events and moments to introduce our products, and this will also become a PR for the government and the DPR,” he said.

The news of Paris Fashion Week recently surfaced in Indonesia because groups of Indonesian brands and celebrities flocked to Paris, holding a fashion show at the Westin Vendome Hotel, Paris.

Unfortunately, this has attracted ridicule because the Indonesian designers brought by Gekrafs and the Fashion Division are said to be not included in the official PFW calendar, aka following the off schedule event, but include the name Paris Fashion Week in their promotions.
