The Steam Deck was upgraded specifically for playing Elden Ring.

Elden Ring It has been a success in sales since its launch on February 25. However, many PC users have complained regarding the performance of the game, specifically with the stuttering or drop in FPS.

This problem does not happen on consoles since they have fixed hardware which is exactly the same for each version. Not so with PCs, where there are multiple components that can influence the hardware. Now, in the case of the Steam Deck, although it is considered a laptop, it is also a piece of fixed hardware, which allows you to enjoy the same benefits of consoles as long as Valve can implement them.

Of course, that’s his case, that’s how he showed it Pierre-Loup Griffais from Valve, who revealed the improvements to the portable console developed since last month and which are now available to all users.

In an interview with EurogamerGriffais explained that not all problems come from stutteringbut “It has more to do with the game creating many thousands of resources, like command buffers in certain places, causing our memory manager to go into overdrive trying to handle it. We now cache those mappings more aggressively, which seems to have helped a lot.”

I can’t comment on whether this is the issue the game is experiencing on other platforms as well, but we’ve been playing the Deck with all of these items in place and the experience has been very fluid”, the developer added.
