Most of the operator’s customers will have to pay a few tens of euros to obtain a replacement.
We were talking to you regarding it just yesterday, Proximus will soon offer a new b-box to its customers. This will not only offer better speeds thanks to the support of Wi-Fi 6, but also better use in an urban environment. “Wi-Fi 6 is less affected by other Wi-Fi networks”, explains Haroun Fenaux, the spokesperson for Proximus. Indeed, it is able to recognize and ignore traffic from other routers and modems. Likewise, this network offers an improved connection time “because there is less wait time when many devices access the Wi-Fi 6 router simultaneously.”
The new generation b-box will be distributed from May 2022 to new Proximus customers. However, the operator indicates that existing customers will also be able to switch to it. Be careful though, the upgrade will not be free for everyone.
Only customers of the “fiber optic” and “copper VDSL” packs will be able to obtain a free change of their b-box. The change will not happen automatically, there will be a procedure to follow and a specific request to be made to the operator, on the part of the customer.
Other Proximus customers who would like to update their equipment will not only have to wait longer, but will also have to pay a few tens of euros for the replacement of their old equipment. However, no official amount has been communicated at this time.
