Since February 2021, the YouTube channel AI Addict, like several others, has been reporting on his experiences as a beta tester of the autopilot software called FSD at Tesla, showing, among other things, that despite the constant flow of new versions, it still makes major mistakes. With FSD 10.10 from this February, he even rammed a plastic bollard, as might be seen in a video – probably the first collision during beta testing of Tesla software, which was captured on film. At the time, AI Addict was still working at the company. But now, according to him, he has been terminated and his beta participation has been cancelled.
Short break following Tesla layoff
With 8,440 subscribers, AI Addict isn’t one of the big YouTubers, but its video showing the FSD collision in early February was viewed almost 200,000 times and used extensively in excerpts by others. After that, however, he took a break for a while. A new video only appeared on the channel at the beginning of March. The topic is not another beta test drive, but a presentation of the VW electric car ID.4 (see photo above).
That was already noticeable, but when asked, AI Addict only confirmed that there would be more FSD videos with him in the future. This week, he made good on that announcement with a new post titled “Tesla FSD-Beta Stress Test in San Jose.” But regarding the first minute of that is devoted to the news that the YouTuber has been fired from his job at Tesla. The reason given to him was his YouTube channel, he reports.
Actually, AI Addict might no longer make FSD videos at all, as he continues: Shortly following the dismissal, Tesla also ended its participation in the beta test, although it had previously received no warnings regarding improper use. But fortunately he is in Silicon Valley, where there are already plenty of FSD testers. One of them now apparently lets him drive his Tesla, and so AI Addict can continue his series of tests.
FSD software now creates bollard corner
The new video shows, among other things, that the Tesla software is now mastering the corner with the bollard accident in February, albeit at a very low speed. Likewise, AI Addict once more shows several mistakes. In both tests, his new test vehicle stopped because of what was supposed to be a red traffic light when it passed a building with a square orange company logo. AI Addict explains that it is important to him that there are honest reports regarding his former employer’s autopilot software and that significant errors are found in it. In the comments on the current video, he also let it be known that he already had a new main job.
