The weather forecast announced up to 18 degrees in the center this Wednesday. Finally, we were far from the mark. MRI meteorologist David Dehenauw also reported that the thermometer showed 5 degrees less than the 19 maximum he had predicted. “I had reasonably well estimated the cloudiness, but the temperatures absolutely not”he shared on Twitter.
In another publication, he was surprised to “never seen that in his career”.
He explained it, however, by the passage this Wednesday of the cloud of sand from the Sahara on our country (which explained the yellowish color of the sky). “There can be so much sand in the sky that not only is the optical density of clouds greater (meaning less sun can shine), but also more clouds are encouraged to form”, explained David Dehenaux on Twitter. Results : “Temperatures are regarding 5 degrees lower than forecast.ns.”
This is exceptional because during such events, the expert explains that weather computers (and therefore meteorologists) take into account the average concentration of sand in the air. And with the latter, “previous studies indicate differences of plus or minus 1 degree”.
For the scientist, these observations thus provide food for thought for many scientific discussions. He concludes in a lighter tone: “The meteorologist proposes, nature disposes!”
