Tras el desastre de Tokyo 24-ku, Kiminori Itou deja los estudios CloverWorks — Kudasai

Kiminori Itouwho recently participated in the original anime studios CloverWorks, Tokyo 24-ku (Tokyo 24th Ward) as animation director (eps 1.7), opening sequence animation director, and sub-character designer, he posted an update on Twitter simply writing: “¡Adios CloverWorks!».

What’s interesting is that just 90 minutes later he posted a second photo with a slightly different work desk and the caption “¡Hola MAP!». That’s right, Itou made the change of companies from him, transferring from the studies CloverWorks to studies MAP. However, the background is deeper than one might imagine.

In late December 2021, Itou noted that the production of the anime Tokyo 24-ku (Tokyo 24th Ward) “i was in the shit“. Since October 24, he had highlighted that the studios were producing three series that would premiere in the Winter-2022 season (January-March), and that the series that had been assigned to him had the lowest priority among all: «CloverWorks has three series lined up for January. The fact that Tokyo 24-ku (Tokyo 24th Ward) was announced last is because their schedule is the furthest behind I guess».

From then on, he would make a series of publications reporting that “production was hell” and that the studio was outsourcing too many staff from abroad to support the production. It should be noted that the series has had two delays to date, postponing the broadcasts of its seventh (February 16) and tenth (March 17) episodes for a week, due to production issues.. The second postponement made room for a compilation episode, implying that it was scheduled.

Sinopsis de Tokyo 24-ku

The story is set on an artificial island known as “District 24”. In that place live three friends who have known each other since childhood: Ran, Koki and Shuta. The three of them have different social positions, hobbies, and personalities, but they are always together. However, their relationships will drastically change following a certain incident. At a memorial service one year following the aforementioned incident, the three meet once more and all of their phones start ringing at once. The phone call is from a friend who thought she was dead, urging them to “choose the future.” This is how each of them will believe in their own way of doing things to protect the future of the people of District 24.
