Hertha BSC: Totally exhausted on the ground – 1st professional collapses under Magath – Bundesliga

On the second day of Magath training, the first day was blown away…

Hertha left-back Fredrik Björkan (23) had to be taken from the training ground in a golf cart on Wednesday.

The first Hertha star goes limp under Magath!

What happened?

At the beginning of the Wednesday followingnoon session (3.30 p.m.), Hertha’s new coach Felix Magath (68) had a sprint exercise carried out to activate the team.

Four groups had to sprint to cones at different distances and take off their bibs. Several passes were completed. After the last one, Björkan needed a break. While his teammates were already heading towards the main square to start ball training, the Norwegian had to catch his breath.

He was gasping for air on his knees. Magath saw that his left-back was obviously having problems and went over to him. Björkan had to sit down and was then treated by physiotherapist Jürgen Lange. Among other things, he put a cold rag on his neck and Björkan’s feet up. Apparently circulatory problems. Björkan is said to have had gastrointestinal problems before.

The training (ended at 4.30 p.m.), Björkan might not continue. At 4:12 p.m., he was taken in a golf cart towards the dressing room. He might sit up once more, but was quite pale.

Björkan arrived in the winter break from Norway club Bodø/Glimt, with whom he won the championship in December. Because the season there is held in calendar year mode, the fast full-back has been playing without a break for more than a year.

In terms of player type, he actually fits into Magath’s system very well, so far he has impressed with dynamic performances, in which he worked hard on the left flank.

But he still has to get used to the tough Magath training…
