Moldova called on Russia to withdraw troops from Transnistria

The Russian Federation must withdraw its armed forces from the territory of Transnistria, which is part of Moldova. This was stated by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

As the head of the Moldovan state noted, Russia plays an important role in the Transnistrian conflict. Earlier, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted an amendment to the document on the actions of the RF Armed Forces in Ukraine. In accordance with this document, the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is referred to only as the “zone of Russian occupation”.

Sandu voiced demands for the withdrawal of troops, the elimination of ammunition from the warehouses on the left bank and the peaceful settlement of the situation in Transnistria. At the same time, a number of Moldovan politicians, including Vice Speaker of the Parliament Vlad Batryncha, believe that the PACE position is aimed at drawing Moldova into the events in Ukraine.
