Microsoft has indicated that Windows games can now be delivered with DirectStorage, since this technology is now available on PC. A technology that promises faster game loading times.

Developers who wish to work with DirectStorage will find the necessary resources at aka.ms/directstorage. These resources include the NuGet repository with the redistributable package, the GitHub repository with samples and documentation, and links to PIX for Windows.
Microsoft will present an introduction to DirectStorage at the Game Developer Conference on March 22. For those unable to attend, a video should be posted following the conference.
If DirectStorage is compatible with Windows 10, Microsoft recommends using Windows 11 because this version of the OS contains the latest storage optimizationsin Redmond’s words.
Microsoft plans to upgrade DirecStorage, in particular to offload the CPU. So the next step will be GPU decompression, a feature that will give developers more control over resources and how hardware is operated.
