Dubai: Three players have been suspended and fined Rs. The UAE Football Association has also directed that the next four matches of the Al Wahdah and Al Ain teams be played in closed venues. The clash took place during a match between Al Wadh and Al Ain in Abu Dhabi.

Two members of the Al Wadda team and one member of the Al Aini group have been suspended. Al Wadh player Ismail Mathar has been banned from two matches and fined two lakh dirhams (Rs 40 lakh). The action is for attacking the opponent.

Kameel Ismail of the same team was banned from two matches and fined 90,000 dirhams. The charge is that he tried to attack the opponent. Al Ain player Eric Jurgenz has been banned for three games for assaulting a security guard. A fine of Dh1.5 lakh was imposed.

Al-Ain players Sufian Rahimi, Khalid Issa and Nasser al-Shukhaili have been fined 25,000 dirhams each for engaging in activities contrary to the spirit of sportsmanship. Al Ain fitness coach banned from four matches and fined 75,000 dirhams for rioting

The match was ordered to be played in closed venues following the misconduct of the spectators. The video of the beating was widely circulated on social media. It is clear from the video footage that the spectators went down to the ground and made a commotion and were caught by the police.

The public prosecution had ordered the arrest of the perpetrators of the violence at the stadium. Officials urged spectators to exercise sportsmanship and not to endanger the lives and safety of others.
