Russia imposes sanctions on a number of US officials, and says that these sanctions are in response to the sanctions imposed on Russian officials.

Today, Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Moscow had “imposed personal sanctions on US President Joe Biden”, and included US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on the “banned” list.

Moscow also imposed sanctions on former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement, which pointed out that “the sanctions once morest a number of American officials are a response to the sanctions imposed on Russian officials.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry also clarified that “the sanctions also apply to the US Secretary of Defense, the National Security Adviser and the head of the CIA.”

The United States imposed sanctions Russian President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, and other officials, mark the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

The US Treasury said in a statement that “the names of Putin, Lavrov, and the 11 members of the Russian Security Council have been included in the sanctions list.” The list of names covered by the sanctions also included the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov.
