The influencer Vesta Lugg surprised her followers following sharing a powerful reflection on being a woman on her social networks.
Through her Instagram account, the singer announced the promotion of a new song that she titled “Brígida”, reflecting on the criticism that women receive for not meeting various standards.
“I have not always felt comfortable sharing my opinion… And being a woman has been a constant reminder that I must question what I assumed at some point was right and listen to this internal intuition that alerts me when the externality has attitudes that harm us and that it seeks to take away our validity through social-structural inflexibility,” he detailed.
“I have not always had the internal maturity, and I probably still have a long way to go to have this conversation… but strongly that listening to them and seeking to understand the many female perspectives, from my place, which is a privilege and that must be recognized, is when I am safest I feel how important it is to speak up despite being ‘not ready’ or ‘not mature’ enough to have the ‘difficult conversations,’” said Vesta Lugg.
“Being able to put learning into practice and say in a meeting ‘don’t interrupt me’ or not having to smile to make others feel comfortable with their concepts of femininity… knowing that we are not an object on the way to the system that attends to pleasure or needs of others,” added the former “BKN” girl.
“That I am not a plate of food … and if that makes me Brígida, it is part of the way and I know that there is work to be done so that it does not have a name or a place, it is simply to respect us,” he added, receiving messages of support and reflections from other users on the subject.
