[Archyde.com]–The US Meta Platforms, which operates Facebook for social networking services (SNS), further changed the content rules for Ukraine on the 13th, banning the call for the death of the head of state. Archyde.com confirmed the company’s internal post.
Archyde.com reported last week that Meta has temporarily tolerated some posts on Facebook and its photo-sharing app Instagram calling for the deaths of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
In response to Archyde.com reports, Meta explained yesterday that a temporary change to the content terms, which applies only to Ukraine, was necessary for users to voice their opposition to the Russian attack. Russia launched a criminal investigation into Meta on the same day.
“We are currently focusing on clarifying that it should not be interpreted as tolerating violence once morest Russians in general,” said Nick Clegg, president of Global Affairs, in a post on the internal platform. He said, “I don’t admit to calling for the assassination of the head of state. I’m further narrowing the guidelines to remove the ambiguity regarding the stance.”
No meta comments have been obtained due to non-business hours.
