Former US President Barack Obama announced on Sunday that he had contracted Covid-19, while his wife Michelle Obama tested negative.
“I just tested positive for Covid. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a few days, but otherwise I feel fine,” Obama said on his Twitter account.
“Michelle and I are grateful to have been vaccinated and to have received the third dose,” he said, noting that his wife tested negative.
The former Democratic president noted that his positive result is a reminder for non-vaccinated people to go and receive their dose despite the downward trend in cases of contamination.
According to the most recent data from the American University Johns Hopkins, the death toll linked to the coronavirus pandemic in the world exceeded 6 million last Monday.
