disempowerment! Philipp Lahm and Oliver Bierhoff out of the DFB leadership – football

Disempowerment at the top of the German Football Association (DFB)!

EM 2024 organizer Philipp Lahm (38) and DFB director Oliver Bierhoff (53) suddenly no longer belong to the 15-strong executive committee following the DFB Bundestag on Friday.

Problem: With the exception of ex-national player Célia Sasic (33), who is responsible for diversity, the management body is missing an ex-professional.

The reason for the almost unnoticed ejection of Lahm and Bierhoff: Before he was voted out, ex-DFB deputy Rainer Koch (63) had influenced the orientation of the presidency with changes to the statutes.

Cooking critics Bierhoff as well as Lahm and also “Joti” Chatzialexiou (sporting director of national teams) should no longer influence decisions of the executive committee as co-opted members of the executive committee with an “advisory vote”.

From now on, Bierhoff and Lahm can only take part if they are “invited as guests” by the new DFB President Bernd Neuendorf. According to BILD information, however, they do not place any increased value on it…
