A forest fire broke out in Meiringen BE in the Bernese Oberland on Sunday followingnoon. Pictures and videos from reader reporters show thick smoke over the forest and the village. Several firefighting helicopters are also in use.
A reader reporter says to Blick that the fire is spreading rapidly. “It’s very windy at the moment. This makes the work of the fire brigade more difficult.”
Also restricted SBB route
As the Bern canton police confirmed on request, a fire broke out in the forest around noon. Firefighters are trying to contain the fire. As far as we know, there are no injuries.
There are also restrictions at SBB due to the fire. The local and long-distance traffic route between Lucerne and Interlaken is only accessible to a limited extent. Delays and cancellations are to be expected. (zis)
