Egyptian television showed a rare song by the late artist Samir Ghanem, which he recorded 40 years ago and has not been broadcast before.
The great poet Shawqi Hijab revealed the details of Samir Ghanem’s rare song, and the reason for not broadcasting it, saying: “Samir Ghanem and I forgot the song, and we were recording another thing at 3 in the morning in a studio in downtown, and I met him coming down from the studio to another studio in the same building.”
Hijab added, during a phone call to the program: “We were sitting joking, so he heard the song and said I want to sing it, but years have passed and we have forgotten it, and I remembered it from far away.”
He explained that the song has the naughtiness and lightness of Samir Ghanem’s shadow: “This was his request, and he said, can I sing it? I told him, Come on, Khash, he rose inside its singer, and I found the song by chance now while I had the heart of my ribbons, and I said I give it to his daughters.”
He stated that Donia and Amy Samir Ghanem had no knowledge of this song, commenting: “No one knew it, and if Samir Ayesh might not take care of it.”
