Gabby Petito was reported missing last summer while touring the United States with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie.

He had returned home to Florida without his girlfriend, which had aroused suspicion. He then disappeared as well.

The bodies of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie were both found days later.

According to the coroner’s inquest, Gabby Petit would have died of strangulation, and Brian Laundrie would have died following a self-inflicted gunshot.

In the lawsuit documents, Joseph Petito and Nichole Shmidt claim that Brian Laundrie told his parents that he killed Gabby.

They claim that the Laundries did not respond to them, or to law enforcement, when asked if Gabby was alive, or if not, where her remains were.

The Laundrie family attorney declined to comment on the lawsuit.
