Will the MRC attack the Commonwealth before the end?

The Commonwealth has proven to be a very powerful community, but “The Walking Dead” features another group that might be an even bigger threat: the CRM (Civic Military Republic). Little is known regarding this formation, although episode 11×11 has suggested that it might attack the settlement led by Pamela Milton.

As part of her job as a journalist, Connie is sent to report on Mercer’s zombie removal operation beyond the Commonwealth walls. Apparently, a horde is approaching the community and the military must control it. The soldiers fight the walkers, and were it not for the presence of Mercer himself, the operation would likely have failed.

But the suspicion that something more than a horde of zombies threatens the Commonwealth arises when a newspaper is seen in one scene with a headline that reads: “The task force holds its line. A second wave is expected.”

The Commonwealth may be used to hordes of zombies, but it’s also likely that they are falling victim to targeted attacks. Although there is still much that The Walking Dead has not revealed regarding the MRC, it is known that the city committed genocide once morest two other settlements, one smaller than the Commonwealth and one slightly larger. None of these fallen places were a threat nor did they provoke the MRC. The CRM has also been known to master the manipulation of zombie hordes using helicopters and loud sounds to guide them, a tactic they employed in both Omaha and Campus Colony to attack.

Since the MCA is expanding throughout the United States, it is almost impossible that they are not aware of the existence of the Commonwealth. These walker hordes Mercer and his soldiers deal with might be the MRC’s first attacks on the Commonwealth, perhaps in an attempt to weaken their army and then attack directly.
