League issues statement on situation surrounding Chris Collins – Hockey-News.info

EC VSV won the second playoff quarter final in Ljubljana 4:3 today. The game was overshadowed by a serious accident involving Chris Collins (we reported). The league has now issued a statement on the matter.

The VSV led 3:2 at the beginning of the final section, before suddenly Chris Collins lay motionless on the ground. The Villach striker was checked and then crashed his head once morest the rink without body tension.

Play was suspended for minutes, Collins given first aid on the ice and then stretchered off the ice and into an ambulance, where he (already confirmed) was responsive. He is currently being treated in the hospital, but there is still no clarity regarding his state of health.

In the meantime, the league has also published a statement on Twitter, stating that it was a clean check once morest Collins, thus confirming the referee’s decision that no penalty was imposed on Laibach.
