Does he stay the six? Or will he return to his usual eight? Before the game at Dynamo Dresden on Saturday, Timo Schultz didn’t want to let anyone look at his cards to see what he was planning to do with Jackson Irvine.
The Australian had recently represented Afeez Aremu, who is currently corona isolated, in the clearing position in front of the defense – and there is actually little to prevent this from being his main task in Dresden as well.
Irvine, Smith, Benatelli: Who moves up to sixth position at St. Pauli?
“We haven’t made the decision yet,” explained Schultz and was once more happy regarding his broad squad: “We now have a few alternatives who have performed well to very well over the course of the season. Accordingly, Jackson moving back to the diamond position is always an option.”

Eric Smith, who filled the role of six at the start of the season, is likely to return to the squad following overcoming knee problems. Rico Benatelli is also available as a six. It is quite possible that Schultz wants to keep the option open to change during the game. The most plausible remains that Irvine initially continues to act on the six.
