Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo underwent an open-heart surgery in Brussels on Tuesday which would have gone well, reports Thursday Free Africathe daily website devoted to African news, quoting one of those close to the presidency of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Kinshasa.
This information was, however, denied by family sources at Top Congo FM radio in Kinshasa, who mentioned a “usual medical check-up“. No confirmation might be obtained from a Congolese source in Brussels.
Open-heart surgery?
“The situation is handled“, for his part indicated the close friend of the Congolese presidency to La Libre Afrique, confirming that the operation “open heart went well“. This source confirmed that Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi “left the country (DRC, editor’s note) in critical condition on Sunday“.
His departure Sunday followingnoon – somewhat hasty – from Kinshasa-Ndjili airport for Brussels, in the company of his wife, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, was announced Monday by the online media Actualité.cd, which referred to a private stay in Belgium for an indefinite period for a “medical check-up“, quoting the presidential entourage.
