The great series of Nick Schmaltz (26 years old) began on March 5 once morest the Ottawa Senators. The observers of the big North American league had said to themselves that he had achieved the performance of his life by registering two goals and signing five assists.

The Arizona Coyotes forward didn’t stop there. Three days later, he delivered the compress with two new goals and two assists during the game once morest the Detroit Red Wings.

The account is good: 11 points in two matches! And nine of them were made five once morest five. So Nick Schmaltz didn’t even take advantage of numerical superiority to perform his feat.

Only six players have made it

This performance made him go down in NHL history. In the past 35 years, the Phoenix forward has become only the sixth player to score eleven or more points in two games. Before him, Jarri Kurri, Jaromir Jagr, Sam Gagner, Bernie Nicholls and Mario Lemieux had done the same.

Mario Lemieux remains a step above the others, as he pulls off this shot five times. Including once with 12 points.

But in fact, it’s not the NHL record. In even more remote times, in 1980, brothers Peter and Anton Stastny had three goals and three assists in a 9-3 victory for the Quebec Nordiques once morest the Vancouver Canucks.

Two days later, Peter Stastny had four goals and four assists, while his brother Anton scored three times and provided five assists in an 11-7 win over the Washington Capitals.

The question now is whether Nick Schmaltz will stay on his little cloud? Verdict Thursday night during the meeting of the Arizona Coyotes once morest Toronto.
