Seocho-gap was the only district in which the Democratic Party and the People’s Power candidate faced each other among the five districts. Candidate Eun-hee Cho served as a secretary to the Blue House during the Kim Dae-jung administration, and then became the first woman to serve as Seoul’s deputy mayor of government in 2010.
He served as the mayor of Seocho-gu for re-election in 2014 and 2018, and in the 2018 local election, he was the only one among the 25 district mayors in Seoul to be elected as an opposition leader.
