The Swedish payment service provider Klarna is adapting payment methods in favor of consumers. Industry observers believe that Klarna anticipates possible regulation.

Frankfurt While banks usually constantly increase fees, Klarna is becoming more generous with its conditions. At the beginning of the week, the Swedish fintech announced that it would send more free payment reminders to consumers in Germany. Customers can also spread the payment for their purchases over three interest-free installments. And: Klarna doubles the deadline for purchases on account to 30 days.
The payment service provider, which is best known for invoice and installment purchases – in technical jargon “buy now, pay later” (BNPL) – announced five product changes. This includes, among other things, that Klarna no longer offers open-ended loans. In terms of sales, Germany is the most important market for Klarna.
