Gogoro unveils first swappable solid-state electric vehicle battery

Gogoro

Lithium ceramic batteries that replace liquid electrolytes with solid electrolytes are said to have higher energy density and far better safety than lithium ion batteries, and are generally regarded as one of the next development directions of battery technology.Gogoro has partnered with ProLogium Technology, also a Taiwanese company, todayshowed the first exchangeable battery built with solid-state battery technology. Although it is the same in appearance as the existing Gogoro battery and can be used instead, the power has been increased from 1.7kWh to 2.5kWh, an increase of nearly 50%.

This will not only greatly increase the range of the vehicle, but also greatly reduce the risk of fire in the event of an accident. However, neither Gogoro nor ProLogium are willing to give specific estimates of battery life, only confirming that this is not just a technical demonstration, but will bring it to the power exchange system at some point in the future to become a new generation of Gogoro batteries.
