Cao Xingcheng, honorary chairman of UMC, wrote in an article recently, “If China attacks Taiwan and seeks US aid, it would be shameful. Taiwan has tens of millions of healthy people, and it should be trained to be a soldier.” Internet media worker Wang Gelei published a commentary in the China Times. The article pointed out that Cao Xingcheng’s two sons were “healthy people between the ages of 18 and 65” and questioned whether they would serve in the military and join the “Millions of Elite Soldiers.” In response, Cao Xingcheng responded, “Both sons are nationalities of the Republic of China, the eldest son has already joined the army, and the younger son will also serve in the military following graduating this summer.”

DPP legislator Ke Jianming posted an article by Cao Xingcheng on Facebook on the 5th, in which he wrote, “Many people ask if the Americans will send troops to defend Taiwan if the Chinese mainland attacks Taiwan. After training tens of millions of healthy people, there are at least one million elites, so the Taiwanese should not ask the United States to send troops, but should ask the government to provide venues and equipment to train adults to become soldiers of all people.”

When the article came out, it attracted a lot of criticism. Guo Zhengliang, a former legislator of the DPP, scolded him, “His two children are Americans, and he is a Singaporean, but he calls everyone a soldier. What kind of shit are you talking regarding? You have to lead by example first. Saying such things, why ask others?”.

Wang Gelei also pointed out in his comments, “In January 2011, an article in Foresight Magazine mentioned that Cao’s eldest son had settled in New York. He was 33 years old in 2011 and should be in his 40s now. In June 2006, a weekly magazine broke the news that Cao I didn’t go to my son’s elementary school graduation ceremony. If the two reports are true, Chairman Cao Honor’s two sons are “healthy populations aged 18 to 65.” He also questioned Cao Xingcheng, “Will these millions of elite soldiers include your family?”

In response to the question, Cao Xingcheng specifically responded to Huang Qinglong, chairman of the Association of Faithful People, saying, “My two sons are both ROC nationals, one has completed military service, the other graduated from an American university this year, and will come back to serve military service during the summer vacation. If something happens to Taiwan, they will all come back. Suppress the Communist Party”.
