“A new sporting strike” .. FIFA excludes Russia from the World Cup qualifiers and considers Poland a winner

The International Football Association Board (FIFA) has decided that Poland will qualify to play the winner of the match between Sweden and the Czech Republic in the European qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Poland was scheduled to face Russia in the semi-final match on track II (B).

“FIFA has today taken important decisions regarding the play-off matches of the Qatar 2022 World Cup following consulting with UEFA and its member associations,” FIFA said in a statement.

The statement added: “Following the decision issued on February 28, 2022, jointly with the UEFA Executive Committee, to suspend the participation of all Russian teams in all FIFA and UEFA competitions until further matter, the FIFA Organizing Committee Office decided that Poland qualified for the semi-final match, the track Second, it will face the winner of the match Sweden and the Czech Republic.

This decision comes in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport had earlier announced that the Russian Football Federation had appealed the sanctions of the International and European Games Federation.
