For four French travelers out of 10, cleanliness is the main criterion when choosing the travel destination in 2022. Yes, you read that right: the cleanliness of the premises. It is this surprising observation that Le Figaro in an article of March 3, using data from the Travellyse tourist platform which studies the travel criteria of 3,000 French people each year. And the health crisis has changed the situation, reports the daily. In 2020, less than one in 10 travelers mentioned cleanliness. This criterion was even placed in 30th position in the ranking, very far behind the budget, nature or safety.
This trend concerns all age categories, young people aged 18-24, 35-44 and 65-74. Behind the notion of cleanliness, travelers are looking, due to the health crisis, for countries where health, hygiene and safety standards are high.
The outdoors and taking your time popular
Another point, outdoor activities remain very popular, confirming the trend of previous years dominated by desires for nature and the outdoors. Moreover, 13% of French travelers questioned have, according to this platform, a desire for a relaxing trip compared to 5% before the health crisis.

It would seem that the objective of a certain number of them is to take their time, and to slow down without multiplying the steps during the trip, reports Le Figaro. Being able to take a direct flight is also important for the French traveler.
