Is the gas solution European? Yannick Jadot thinks so. The environmental candidate for the presidential election on April 10 and 24 proposed on Tuesday on France24 and RFI the establishment of a “single European buyer” to supply Europe with gas and avoid competition between European countries. The goal is to be less dependent on Russian gas as the war in Ukraine rages on.
We can survive without Russian gas until next winter.

“I have supported for several days the fact that the European Union put an embargo on Russian gas”, explained the ecologist, who wants “that we exonerate ourselves from this Russian gas”. He also believes that it is possible to “keep going without Russian gas until next winter”, and wants to “raise our level of sanctions” once morest Russia, particularly in terms of “Russian gas”.
“European Power”
The EELV candidate proposes a single European gas buyer “to avoid competition between States”, and to have “the European power to supply us with gas”. He also defends “a major plan for sobriety, expansion of our energy suppliers and massive investment by deploying all renewable energies very quickly”.
Yannick Jadot hopes for the implementation of “measures which will allow us to be able to do without” Russian gas. Among the examples, he cited reducing the temperature “by one degree” in homes and businesses, as well as “installing photovoltaics on all our roofs” and “running our washing machines night “. “These are a few changes for a major cause, security, peace on the European continent,” he insisted.
