In order to provide help to the people in Ukraine, many travel voluntarily to the crisis area. So do German stars like presenter Oliver Pocher (44) and Ballermann singer Ikke Hipgold (45). Hipgold, whose real name is Matthias Distel, offers children and young people from Ukraine protection, material help and attention with his children’s foundation “Summerfield of Kids Foundation”.
“Bild” he explains: “If you have the opportunity, you shouldn’t look away now!” Hip gold travels to the Polish-Ukrainian border by bus. «So far we have been able to bring 110 people to Germany. We first went there with two buses and created an infrastructure on site together with our interpreters who traveled with us», he explains. “Now we also have direct contacts at the border. We are currently at the border with two other buses that have a capacity for 130 people. »
Ikke Hipgold wants to provide accommodation
However, according to Hipgold, the transport alone is not enough to provide assistance. Safe accommodation and food must also be provided. The Ballermann singer and his employees have already provided 50,000 euros for organizing relief supplies and means of transport.
Hip gold’s goal is to bring 500 children and mothers who are fleeing the war to Germany. “Privately, we will of course also make our premises available,” emphasizes the singer. “If we cannot accommodate everyone directly, our newly built company will provide additional accommodation for around 40 people. We just have to be there for our neighbors now!”
“We had to cross the border, which is a very queasy feeling”
Oliver Pocher thinks the same way. “I see it on TV like you do and I ask myself: What can I do?” explains Oliver Pocher in a video on Instagram. The moderator takes action. He joins a German aid organization and travels to the Ukraine to give relief supplies to the needy there.
But Pocher’s journey to support and help the Ukrainian people is not without it. “We had to cross the border, which is a very queasy feeling,” reports Pocher of his trip. The situation in the country is “dramatic, but civilized.” He jumps over his shadow for the benefit of others and appeals to his fans: “You just have to support these people now, with everything you can.” (cog)
