Wages should increase in Quebec

Salaries are expected to be higher than expected in 2022, according to forecasts from the College of Certified Human Resource Advisors (CRHA).

Thus, rather than an average increase of 2.9% initially forecast last September, an average of between 3.3% and 3.5% (excluding freezes) is now forecast for Quebec, which is slightly higher than the Canadian average which is between 3.1% and 3.4%.

As for salary structures, the forecasts go from 2.3% to an average between 2.5% and 2.9% (excluding freezes) for Quebec and between 2.4% and 2.7% in Canada.

“The current context, marked by high inflation as well as the difficulty in attracting and retaining talent, is pushing Quebec employers to revise their salary increase forecasts upwards,” explained the Ordre des CRHA in its update. forecast published on Tuesday.

“So to retain people with a critical role for the organization, those whose risk of departure is higher, who are the most successful or have high potential, employers will probably want to give them special attention. The same is true for employees who are currently at the bottom of their pay scale. And this, while preserving internal equity,” explained Manon Poirier, Executive Director of the Ordre des CRHA.

Still with a view to attracting and retaining employees, the Order believes that in addition to salary increases, the year 2022 might be marked “by sustained investments affecting all working conditions”. In particular with the deployment of a hybrid model, between telework and face-to-face work, or with the implementation of initiatives in the field of mental health and well-being.

“The market is snapping up talent and the offers are more and more generous. Employers have no choice but to innovate in their overall compensation practices and especially more broadly, those of human resources management,” added Ms.me Pear tree.
