Kochi: A young woman was brutally beaten by her mother-in-law’s friend in Koratti, Thrissur. MS Vaishnavi from Perumbavoor is undergoing treatment at the Angamaly Apollo Hospital. The young woman, who got married six months ago and was brought to Koratti, is the victim of her husband’s misfortune. The woman said that her mother-in-law and her brother-in-law had beaten her and that she was starving.

According to the woman, her mother’s intimacy with the man, who lives within a three-kilometer radius, was forbidden when she felt it was out of bounds. He claims to be helping needy women and widows. Koratti Palappally Mozhikulam Mukesh, the husband of the injured girl, said that his mother was sidelined in this manner.

He was banned from coming home and making unnecessary phone calls following his mother told him to listen only to what he had to say. He threatened to kill her and informed his wife and son. His family replied that this was a problem of both families and should be resolved amicably.

On Sunday night, while talking in the house next door, he came in unexpectedly and hit Vaishnavi in ​​the face. The husband who went to stop her was also beaten but did not get injured. He stopped the car and called the locals. The girl was later admitted to hospital.

According to the hospital, the police arrived and took a statement but he was not arrested. Police say he is absconding. He had gone directly to the station the previous day and lodged a complaint.

Despite the marriage being arranged by the family, the wife was subjected to brutal abuse at home. Mukesh told Manorama Online that Vaishnavi lost eight kilos following her marriage. Vaishnavi is a final year student of Civil Engineering.
