The pioneer of Holiday Villages, Club Med proceeded, on Monday in Marrakech, to the inauguration of the Space “Club Med Exclusive Collection Le Riad”, completely renovated and redesigned, and to the laying of the 1st stone of the project of extension of its Marrakech-La Palmeraie Club, which will have around sixty additional rooms.
These large-scale projects are part of the partnership sealed, in 2020, between Madaëf, Tourism Branch of the CDG Group, and Club Med, with the aim of perpetuating the Riad Club Med Marrakech la Palmeraie opened in 2004 and increasing its accommodation capacity at 350 rooms, while strengthening its family orientation in order to meet the expectations of a high-end and international clientele.
“Through these projects, Club Med reaffirms its commitment to work with Madaëf. The investments we have made have made it possible to increase our reception capacity and to offer very high-end services in order to better meet the expectations of families and working couples”, underlined Henri Giscard d’Estaing, President of the Club Med, in a speech delivered on the sidelines of this ceremony.
“These projects are also new demonstrations of our common desire to develop the tourism sector, its players and the communities that welcome us, as well as to contribute to the upscaling of the Kingdom’s tourist offer”, added Giscard d ‘Estaing. He expressed the wish of all the parties concerned to “go even further and to continue to develop the fraternal and economic ties between Club Med and the Kingdom, by contributing to its international tourist influence, in particular thanks to our presence everywhere. around the world, through our travel agencies and our 42 websites (in 18 languages).
For his part, Mamoun Lahlimi Alami, General Manager of Madaëf, indicated that “the renovation and the launch of the extension works of Club Med Marrakech-La Palmeraie mark the move upmarket of this emblematic village and will make it possible to further enrich the ‘tourist offer in Marrakech’.
“These projects also consolidate our historic relationship with our partner Club Med and allow us, moreover, to renew our commitment to the revival of the tourism sector, which has been damaged over the past two years”, he noted. , stating that they “come in a particular context where the tourism industry is beginning a promising cycle of recovery and where we are continuing our investment effort with a view to contributing, with our partners and through our projects, to repositioning the tourist offer in the different destinations of the Kingdom”.
The first phase of this work was the total renovation of 60 suites and the common areas of the “Club Med Exclusive Collection Le Riad” space. Restoration of the reception and lounge areas, replacement of furniture around the pool and the restaurant terrace, mineralization of the private gardens.
The project first concerns the modernization of the public areas of Club Med Marrakech la Palmeraie. This sequence includes the renovation of the wellness area enhanced with a hammam, the Meeting & Events area and the children’s areas, the modernization of the catering offer with the renewal of the buffets, as well as the transformation of the restaurant El Kebir. Facilities are also planned to improve the Resort’s energy performance and thermal comfort.
The renovation works are being carried out in several phases, with the objective of complete delivery in September 2022.
The extension part concerns, for its part, the creation of a new family area comprising 66 rooms, including 54 with a view of the swimming pool, the construction of a heated swimming pool with water games, in addition to the development of a Baby Club.
In addition to this, there are 22 accommodations for GOs (Friendly Organizers), changing rooms and a new car park for GEs (Friendly Employees).
Appreciated by golfers for its “pitch and putt” course bordered by olive, orange and palm trees, the Resort will have something to offer its customers unique stays.
Essaouira soon
Present in Morocco since 1963, Club Med, inventor of the “upscale and experiential all-inclusive” vacation concept and proven expertise, has been at the forefront of world tourism since its creation in 1950.
It should be noted that two other major projects have been announced, namely the upgrading of the Yasmina Resort, opened in 1970 in the north of the country and the construction of Club Med Essaouira-Mogador, other symbols of the Brand’s attachment to the Trident , in Morocco and its contribution to its development.
After a major renovation in 2011, other work will be undertaken to enable the Yasmina Resort to better meet customer expectations, increase its attractiveness and extend its opening time. This project is included in the agreement concluded between Club Med and Madaëf.
In Essaouira, Club Med is developing a new premium Resort. With its 350 rooms and accessible all year round, this Eco-Resort for families and active couples, enhanced by a Club Med Exclusive Collection area, will be fully integrated into its environment. Club Med Essaouira-Mogador, which is scheduled to open in 2024, will offer a quality tourism experience combining an exceptional natural, historical and cultural heritage, leisure for families and a wide range of water sports.
