Unemployment rate down

Employment » The unemployment rate fell in February in the canton of Fribourg. According to figures provided by the Public Employment Service (SPE), it stands at 2.7% of the active population, a drop of 0.2 points compared to the previous month. The number of unemployed amounted to 4708 people, ie 1841 less than a year earlier.

Except for La Broye where the curve remains stable (2.6%), the unemployment rate is decreasing in all the districts. It posted 3.4% in Sarine (–0.2 points), 2.6% in Gruyère (–0.3), 2.8% in Veveyse (–0.2), 2.4% in Lac ( –0.1), 2.8% in Glâne (–0.2) and 1.5% in Sense (–0.1). The rate of job seekers has also fallen and stands at 5% (–0.2 points). They were 8700 at the end of February, 1795 less than a year ago. This positive situation can be explained in particular by the catch-up effect of the economy as well as by the fairly mild weather in February, indicates the SPE.
