The artist, Magda, was considered the real competition for the artist, Faten Hamama, and if any of them were found in any work, then this work is guaranteed to succeed, given the intense competition that was between them.
In 1958, Magda kept the title of the screen virgin and kept it firmly, refusing any kisses so as not to lose her title in the eyes of the viewer.
But in the same year, director Helmy Rafla decided to use Magda and Omar Sharif in the film, which he will produce and direct by Atef Salem, the movie “Shati Al Asrar”.
His hero was an Egyptian intelligence officer trying to find the secret headquarters of a dangerous gang of smuggling gangs, Al-Shabaka magazine said in a report. There was a scene in the script bringing the two lovers together with a kiss.
The scene revolves around Magda, who is alone on the sand and hides her face with a straw hat to protect herself from the heat of the sun.
But Omar Sharif arrives and walks with careful steps so as not to alert his absent friend’s sister, and sits next to her until she notices. They are supposed to have a short conversation, then Omar bends over and kisses her on the arm.
The kiss was supposed to be on the lips, but she strongly opposed the matter, so it was agreed that the position of the kiss would be changed, and Atef Salem had prepared for a tight plan, and shouted: “Rehearsal.” Ahmed Khorshid, the photographer, put his eye on the camera.
He began identifying the cadre and telling her: “Be a little close to Omar because you left the cadre.” But then Atef Salem shouted: “We will repeat once more, and then film.”
She extended her hand and lifted her hat from her face. Suddenly he closed his lips to hers, the camera was in circles and Khurshid was actually filming the kiss, and everything was done in seconds as if it was a pickpocket.
What did Magda do following Omar Sharif kissed her? Suddenly she got up and ran on the shore, shouting nervously, as if she had had a fit of madness:
“Oh black news.. Omar Basni.. oh black news.” Magda returned to the hotel and closed the door to her room on her.
On that day, she refused to continue filming. Until the producer, Helmy Rafla, arrived, and with his diplomacy he managed to end the crisis and severely reprimanded Atef Salem. He assured Magda that he would remove the kiss,
Everything that happened was a charade agreed between Helmy and Atef. The movie was shown in its entirety, and it was a great success because of the kiss stolen from the lips of the cinema virgin by the husband of her competitor, Faten Hamama.
