Samsung to fix “smartphone performance degradation” with update User adjustment is possible –Engadget Japanese version

Reported last week, Reported that the performance of Samsung smartphones in South Korea has been intentionally reduced. Regarding this, Samsung has issued a statement that it will be possible for users to control it through a software update.

It was reported that the performance of 10,000 apps was intentionally reduced (slot ring) by a service called “Game Optimizing Service (GOS)” installed in Samsung smartphones. It seems that this was aimed at extending the battery life, while it is reported that the benchmark application that is an index of smartphone performance was programmed to demonstrate the original performance.

Samsung spokeswoman Kelly Yeo told overseas media The Verge regarding the matter: “We will immediately roll out software updates so that we can control performance while the game app is running.” .. On the other hand, she denies throttling in benchmark apps, saying, “GOS does not control the performance of non-gaming apps.”

On the other hand, the benchmark application “Geekbench” has deleted the Samsung high-end smartphone “Galaxy S22 / S21 / S20 / S10” from the result report list. It is moving differently from the company’s official view.

It seems that detailed investigation is necessary to determine whether the operation of GOS was a configuration, but it is clear that the explanation to the user was insufficient. In the future, I would like to see improvements so that users can explicitly adjust functions when setting up smartphones.
