The price of gas in Europe exceeds 300 euros per megawatt hour on Monday, while it was less than 20 euros a year ago

The European gas price exploded records on Monday, exceeding the bar of 300 euros per megawatt hour, while it was 192 on Friday and 17 euros a year ago.

Fears of a shortage of Russian gas, following the sanctions imposed on the invading country of Ukraine, are putting pressure on the market.

Electricity prices are also rising to new highs. On the futures market, the price of German electricity for delivery next month rose 54% to an all-time high of 650 euros per megawatt hour.
