Mariupol again attempts an evacuation after the failure of the first ceasefire

The authorities of a city in Ukraine are trying to retake the humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians. The port of Mariúpol announced this Sunday a new effort for the departure of its inhabitantsfollowing the first ceasefire was frustrated.

The city is surrounded by Russian troops and the population tries to escape from the war. Mariupol officials said “From 12 noon (10:00 GMT) the evacuation of the civilian population begins”. The statement indicates that a ceasefire was agreed with the Russians.

The Ukrainian media reports that the Russians continue their attacks on the cities of Irpín, Hóstomel, Makariv, in the Kiev region. The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection explained that the most conflictive point is on the Zhitomir highway, 144 kilometers west of the capital.

In the area there was an air strike in Korosten and in Chernigov fighting on the outskirts, while Russian troops try to advance towards Kiev. German wave indicates that the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned of Russia’s plans to seize the hydroelectric power plant in Kaniv.

The entity’s Facebook account asserts that “according to the available information, the occupant intends to seize another important infrastructure, the dam of the Kániv hydroelectric plant”. On Friday Russian troops seized the Energodar nuclear power plant in the Zaporizhia region.
