Although the statement did not identify the arrested woman, Russian media said that she, American basketball star Greiner Britney, is a two-time Olympic gold holder with the US national team in 2016 and 2020, and she also won two gold medals in the 2014 and 2018 World Championships.
The American star, who has played for the Russian basketball club Ekaterin Borg since 2015, faces a possible prison sentence of 5 to 10 years, the customs service added.
