In Gabon, a new political institution is born: . Its creation was announced during a council of ministers on September 13, but it was only Friday that the first members of the institution were appointed by the council of ministers. They are a total of twelve members and almost all of them are former or members of the ruling party.

The institution will be directed by Michel Essongue, one of the faithful of Omar Bongo then of his son Ali Bongo.
But the appointment that has generated the most comment is that of Jean Eyeghe Ndong, former Prime Minister of Omar Bongo. Many Gabonese consider this post to be ridiculous for a former prime minister. Others maintain that at 76, this leader who joined the opposition following the death of Omar Bongo in 2009 did not sell his skin dearly. Since 2016, Jean Eyeghe Ndong had become one of the destroyers of the regime alongside Jean Ping. But last August, he made a 180 degree turn by approaching Ali Bongo.
Another appointment that does not go unnoticed is that of Eric Dodo Bounguendza, current secretary general of the ruling party. Will he resign from his party functions or will he opt for the combination?
The newly created High Commission of the Republic is an institution of twelve members who will be responsible for evaluating, monitoring and implementing the political action of the Head of State.
