Dubai: The UAE Public Prosecution has issued a stern warning to those who abuse women in any way in the UAE. The Public Prosecution said in a social media post that those who harass or insult women in public will face severe punishment.

Those who commit such crimes face up to a year in prison and a fine of 10,000 dirhams. This is in accordance with Article 412 of Federal Law 2021. This punishment is punishable by insult with words or deeds or by displaying obscene symbols of any kind. The public prosecution said it was a crime to physically abuse, insult with obscene language or symbols.

In places where only women have access, men entering in the guise of women also come under the category of insulting them. Those who engage in such acts will receive similar punishment. The UAE Public Prosecution said the report was aimed at creating awareness among the people regarding the latest changes in the country’s laws through social media.
