If you agree to a later delivery, you can save money when buying a car. At least that is the result of a recent study.

According to a study, there are slightly higher price reductions for new cars on the German car market.

Models with longer delivery times are often offered more cheaply than cars that are immediately available, reports the Center Automotive Research (CAR) in its regular market study for February.

It is foreseeable that the semiconductors, which have meanwhile become scarce, will once more be available in larger numbers and that the short-term production problems caused by the Ukraine war will also be quickly overcome, explained study leader Ferdinand Dudenhöffer. In order to bridge the supply gaps, the German manufacturers in particular worked with additional incentives for later delivery dates.

The price advantages for self-configurable new cars on the Internet were increased slightly to an average of 17.6 percent of the list price. However, due to the scarce supply, the net prices for new cars were still close to the peak level. There were also significantly more offers for car subscriptions, but they became slightly more expensive. The rate of self-registrations rose by one point to 24.7 percent. The Japanese importers Honda and Suzuki were surprisingly active in this segment.
